How to Enable a Public Subscribe Page for Your KaiMail Mailing List

This guide shows you how to turn on a public subscribe page for your KaiMail mailing list. Once enabled, anyone can join your list by visiting a URL and confirming their address. No account required, no code to embed.

Step 1: Open Your Custom Domain

Step 2: Add or Edit a Mailbox

If you already have a mailing list mailbox, click to edit it. Otherwise, click Add Mailbox.

Step 3: Choose Email List as the Route Type

Select Email List from the route type dropdown. Then pick the list type:

Public forwarding — forwards to all members, replies go to sender. Works on any plan.
Broadcast — one-way newsletters and announcements. Requires Plus, Pro, or Business.
Discussion — members can reply to the list. Requires Plus, Pro, or Business.

Step 4: Tick "Allow Public Self-Subscribe"

This is the key step. Tick the checkbox labeled Allow public self-subscribe. This publishes a subscribe page for the list.

Step 5: Write the List Description

The List description field is not an internal note. It appears on the public subscribe page and again in the welcome email. Write it for a stranger who is deciding whether to hand over their email address.

Say what the list is, and say how often it goes out. For example:

Monthly updates on Python conferences and community events in Asia. No spam, unsubscribe anytime.

Step 6: Save and Share the URL

Save the mailbox. Open the list details page and copy the subscribe page URL. Share it:

In a talk or meetup slide (works well as a QR code)
In your email signature
On your website or landing page
In social media posts

What Your Subscribers Will See

The subscribe page shows:

The list address as the heading
Your description
A subscriber count ("Be the first to join" or "Join 47 other subscribers")
One email field and one Subscribe button
A "Powered by KaiMail" footer with a link to sign up

After subscribing, visitors see a "Check your inbox" page, receive a confirmation email, click through to a confirmation page, and press Confirm subscription. Only then do they receive the welcome email.
